wishlist nambour hospital

A Wishlist initiative, the garden would see the unused space on Block 3 in Nambour Hospital transformed into a peaceful, plant-filled haven away from the clinical environment of the hospital. It would not only provide a much-needed time out space for hospital staff, but also for patients and their families, especially those from Antenatal, the Special Care Nursery, Paediatric Outpatients and the Children’s Ward.

Quatro was happy to come on board immediately, donating more than $5,000 worth of GFR pots and planter boxes to the project. Receiving the request on the eve of our 10th anniversary, we started Quatro in 2004 in Billinudgel in Northern NSW but launched our brand and our first product at the Nambour Garden show in mid-2004. It was a call to action, a way to give back to the community that a decade earlier had embraced their humble product and helped launch it nationally.

The garden is now complete and being used as a relaxing fresh air retreat for hospital patients and staff. Chris said. “If our donation has helped in creating an environment which assists hospital staff, patients and their families to feel less stressed and supports them on their road to recovery, it makes my heart sing and fills me with joy.”

A truly collaborative labour of love, the internal garden came together as a result of many in the community pitching in to get the project completed at minimal cost. Furniture worth $2,700 was donated by The Outdoor Furniture Specialists and the Brisbane Bombers NRL Expansion Bid, and the vertical garden’s potted colour was provided by Whiteoak Developments. Local removalist company Foxtrot Furniture Removals picked up and delivered all the plants for free.  Local Westpac branches provided the manpower for the project with 20 volunteers achieving the makeover in just 3.5 hours.
